EMC Directive Compliance

The EMC Directive 2014/30/EU supersedes the previous Directive 2004/108/EC on Electromagnetic Compatibility, which in turn had replaced Directive 89/336/EEC. This updated directive applies to all products that either have the potential to cause electromagnetic disturbances or may be impacted by such disturbances during operation.

Summary

This workshop provides a practical overview of the Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) Directive 2014/30/EU. Participants will learn the key requirements for ensuring electromagnetic compatibility in electrical and electronic products within the EU. The agenda includes guidance on analyzing and managing electromagnetic disturbances, testing immunity levels, and ensuring products meet EU harmonized standards, especially under Standard 1025/2012. Practical examples and clear instructions will demonstrate real-world application of the directive. The session also explores design and manufacturing practices that ensure EMC compliance, effective risk analysis methods, and the various assessment modules used to verify product conformity. Finally, the roles and responsibilities of stakeholders—including manufacturers, notified bodies, and purchasers—are defined in the context of implementing the directive.

Training Methodology

LABOR is a Notified Body for the EMC Directive (NB2537) and collaborates with both accredited laboratories in Greece and internationally, offering expertise across a wide range of products covered by the directive.

The training programs are led by the Head of the Laboratory at LABOR, who is also a distinguished member of the Board of Hellas Lab. With deep knowledge and extensive experience in the field of testing, the lecturer brings invaluable insight into the complexities of electromagnetic compatibility.

The program features a comprehensive presentation on the EMC Directive and Harmonized Standards, supplemented with engaging discussions and real-world examples to ensure practical understanding. Participants will also explore key concepts in greater depth, enhancing their grasp of EMC requirements.

Upon completion of the training, participants will receive a Certificate of Attendance from LABOR S.A., validating their participation and newfound expertise in electromagnetic compatibility.
