RoHS Directive Compliance
The RoHS Directive 2011/65/EU establishes regulations aimed at limiting the use of hazardous substances—such as lead, cadmium, mercury, chromium, and PBB/PBDE combustion retardants—in electrical and electronic equipment (EEE). By setting strict thresholds for these substances, the directive helps protect human health and the environment. It also supports the environmentally responsible recovery and disposal of electrical and electronic waste, ensuring that harmful substances are effectively managed throughout the product lifecycle.
Summary
This workshop provides an in-depth introduction to the RoHS Directive, focusing on restricting hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment. Participants will learn how to identify and manage restricted materials to ensure product safety and regulatory compliance. The session includes practical examples and instructions to clarify the directive’s application, along with a review of essential safety requirements aimed at protecting human health and the environment. The workshop also explores the role of EU Harmonized Standards (including those related to Directive 98/34/EC) in supporting RoHS compliance. Attendees will gain practical insights into designing and manufacturing RoHS-compliant products and conducting risk assessments to mitigate hazards associated with banned substances.
